This is a textual lesson from 1 Corinthians 12:1-14. The character of God Himself is diverse (Father, Son, Spirit) and the way He manifests Himself in members of the Church through the Spirit is also diverse. It is the same Spirit who manifests Himself through us in different ways. And it is that same Spirit that unifies us together into one body. We are all baptized by the same Spirit into the body and we are also made to drink from the same Spirit.
This lesson discusses God’s plan for individual Christians to organize within local churches. The focus of this lesson builds upon the biblical examples which show that it is God’s desire and expectation that we as Christians participate and collaborate with other Christians within a local church congregation. The local church is God’s ordained method of organization for accomplishing the work of evangelism, benevolence, and edification.
